Amazon is holding your listing for a Responsible Person. Here is how to release it.

Amazon checks the compliance section of every EU offer. If the responsible person field is empty, the listing stops being visible to buyers in the Union — the account is fine, the product is fine, but nobody can find it.

Where Amazon actually looks

The field sits in the Compliance Information block of the product detail page, and Seller Central refuses to publish a new EU offer without it. Existing offers were pulled retroactively, which is why sellers who changed nothing suddenly lost visibility.

Amazon does not verify the person you name at the moment you type it, but it does keep the record. When a market surveillance authority queries a product, that record is what gets handed over.

What the field will accept

A legal name and a full postal address inside the Union, plus an email. A freight forwarder, a fulfilment centre or a warehouse address will not do: none of them accepts the obligations of Article 16, and using them is the mistake that causes a second suppression.

The safest input is a company that has signed a written mandate for your products and can produce it on request.

How fast the listing comes back

Once the field is filled with a valid operator, the offer usually returns to EU search within hours rather than days. Nothing needs to be re-created, and the listing keeps its history and reviews.

If the offer was suppressed for a labelling gap as well, expect a second pass: the packaging itself has to carry the same name and address.

Questions we are asked

Can I use my freight forwarder's address?

No. The responsible person must be an economic operator that accepts the Article 16 obligations in writing. A forwarder holds your goods, it does not hold your compliance file, and naming it will not survive a check.

Will Amazon ask me for proof of the appointment?

Not usually at the moment you type it, but it can request the mandate later, and market surveillance authorities certainly will. Keep the signed designation reachable, which is why ours comes with a code that resolves publicly.

Does one appointment cover all Amazon EU marketplaces?

Yes. The mandate covers the whole Union, so the same name and address work on amazon.de, .fr, .it, .es, .nl and the rest, and on every other platform you sell through.
