What has to be printed, and what can live on the listing instead.
Most compliance failures are not missing paperwork, they are missing print. The regulation expects certain details on the product itself, and a listing entry does not substitute for them.
The identification block
The product must carry the manufacturer's name, registered trade name or trade mark and postal address, plus the same for the responsible person established in the Union. An email or website goes alongside as a contact point.
Where the size of the product makes this impossible, the details go on the packaging or on a document accompanying the goods — not simply omitted.
Traceability
A type, batch or serial number must allow the specific product to be identified. This is what makes a targeted recall possible instead of a total withdrawal, which is why authorities look for it early.
A single unchanging model number across four years of production is usually where this falls apart.
Warnings and instructions
Safety information and instructions must be in a language the consumer in the destination country understands. A German buyer receiving English-only warnings is a gap even if the warning itself is correct.
This obligation follows the market, not the origin of the goods, so a single English insert does not cover a pan-European catalogue.
What you can show an inspector
A mandate with a date and a signature, an address that answers, and a code that an inspector can resolve on the spot from a phone.
That is the whole point of the service: it survives contact with someone checking.
What separates this from the cheap offers
The cheapest providers sell you an address and a PDF. Neither survives a check, because neither can be confirmed from outside.

Can I put the responsible person only in the online listing?
No. The listing entry is required as well, but the identification block belongs on the product or its packaging. Customs inspects the physical item, not your web page.
The item is too small to print an address. What then?
The details move to the packaging or to an accompanying document. The rule anticipates small products; it does not accept leaving the information out entirely.
Which languages do the warnings need?
Those of the member states where the product is made available. In practice a multilingual insert covering your active markets is the manageable answer.
Print is the part nobody can fix retroactively from a dashboard, which is why it deserves the attention before a production run rather than after one.
