The tool fetches the page you name, follows the usual privacy links if the notice sits elsewhere, and reads it for a representative established in the Union. It searches in eight languages, because a German notice rarely uses the English phrase.
Three answers come back. Named means a representative appears and we show you which one. Not found means the notice exists but contains no representative. Unreachable means the page could not be read at all, which is itself worth knowing: an authority reading it would see the same.
It reads a public page. It cannot say whether the mandate behind the name is signed, accepted, or still in force, and it cannot tell you whether you were required to appoint anyone in the first place. A name in a notice with no live designation behind it is the most common failure we see, and no automated reader catches it.

It usually means one of three things: you never appointed a representative, you appointed one and never published the name, or the notice was updated and the line was lost. The second is the most frequent, and the easiest to fix — the designation exists, the wording just needs pasting back in.
