Marketplace fields
Marketplaces refuse listings without an EPREL registration number and the energy label image.
Documentation you must hold
EU declaration of conformity, technical file, photobiological safety assessment, EPREL product registration, RoHS declarations and WEEE registration.
Standards and testing
EN 60598 luminaires, EN 62471 photobiological safety, EN 55015 electromagnetic emissions, plus efficacy measurement for ecodesign.
Language requirements

When it applies
EPREL registration before the first unit is placed on the market.
How long records are kept
10 years, and EPREL data for 15 years.
What happens if you do not comply
Withdrawal, fines and delisting. EPREL is checked automatically by several marketplaces.
Who enforces it
National market surveillance and energy agencies.
Where the boundary lies
EPREL registration must be done by the supplier itself and cannot be delegated to a representative without a formal authorisation in the system.
Questions we are asked
- Do LED strips need an energy label?
- Light sources placed on the market do. Luminaires sold without a replaceable light source do not.
